Building and Civil Engineering Institute ZRMK, L.t.d., Ljubljana, Slovenia, is a daughter company of ZRMK Holding, J.s.c., founded in 2003 for R&D and consultancy in building and civil engineering. The company follows the tradition of the Institute for testing and research in materials and structures (acronym ZRMK, Zavod za raziskavo materiala in konstrukcij), founded as a public expert and technical institution already in 1949. The company is focused on all fields concerning buildings and civil engineering in general, including energy efficiency, sustainable principles and practices, environmental issues, and new technologies and materials.

The clients include Slovenian ministries, municipalities, housing funds, and other public bodies, as well as private clients from investors, planners, construction companies to homeowners. The company staff has good contacts with national professional associations and chambers, manages the Slovenian Energy Advisory Network, publishes articles in relevant newspapers and magazines, and regularly organizes workshops and various other events for different target groups.

BCEI ZRMK has been continuously involved in international IEE, FP 5, FP 6 projects, OPET-network, SAVE, Altener, PHARE, EUREKA, COPERNICUS, COST C5, C8, C16, and C23, ECOS/OUVERTURE, INCO, THERMIE, UNDP, and other projects and programmes.
