With the disappointing Copenhagen Summit behind us, one fact is clear: the fight against climate change will not be won without the crucial contribution of towns, cities, provinces and regions. They have been forerunners in the past and will continue to play a central role in the post-2012 treaty hopefully agreed upon in December in Mexico.

More than 1,500 member cities and municipalities in our network have committed to the ambitious Climate Alliance target and are developing and implementing innumerable “Local Solutions for Change”. They have made this commitment not only for the protection of the global climate, but also for local economy and welfare in the current and expected times of energy crisis.
