Awarding institution and criteria:
Awarding criteria is based on requirements of Council Regulation (EEC) No 2092/91 of 24 June 1991 on organic production of agricultural products and indications referring thereto on agricultural products and foodstuffs.
Awarding institution in Latvia is Association of Latvian Organic Agriculture.
In order to receive the label for a selected produce, producer shall comply with list of requirements introduced by the Association and obtain a certificate from sertification institution Environmental Quality.

The control body is Association of Latvian Organic Agriculture.
Relevance on the market:
The label has been introduced in 1995 and is still active on Latvian market. There are more than 1000 producers that are awarded with the label.
